The keris, a distinctive cultural emblem indigenous to the Malay Archipelago, has long been associated with warriors, shamans and mysticism, enveloping it in an aura of mystery. Keris collector Khairi Johari, who has meticulously gathered these traditional weapons for nearly three decades, presents a rare and captivating showcase. In this exclusive presentation, Khairi unveils some of his most treasured kerises, inviting you to explore the rich histories, myths, and enduring superstitions that surround these enigmatic artifacts. Join us for a journey into the heart of Malay heritage, where each keris tells a tale of its own.

This programme is suitable for most ages. Adult accompaniment for children under 12 years old is recommended. 

This programme is held as part of Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery Open House 2024.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Khairi Johari

Khairi Johari is an IT professional, communopreneur, content producer and a dedicated independent researcher. As a passionate collector of Malay cultural relics and artifacts, Khairi Johari has devoted significant time and resources to the study and acquisition of traditional kerises from the Malay Archipelago since 1997. His expertise and commitment to preserving this heritage have led him to collaborate with various organisations since 2003, where he generously shares his profound knowledge of the keris.

  1. Please note that 1 ticket to this programme admits 1 person only.
  2. If you need to cancel your ticket, please write to us via Peatix messages or email us at nhb_heritagetrails@nhb.gov.sg, 48 hours before the event start time. Late cancellations and no-shows will be subject to the full ticket fees.
  3. To allow more participants to enjoy the programme, each customer is allowed to purchase up to 4 tickets. We reserve the right to cancel additional tickets purchased.
  4. Liability Waiver: By purchasing a ticket to this workshop, you must be aware of your own health and physical condition and having knowledge that your participation in any physical programme may be injurious, and you are voluntarily participating in this programme.
